What E2 Means
E2 means the primary thermistor is shorted rather than open — the opposite electrical problem from E1, same practical result of an untrustworthy temperature reading.
Common Causes of E2
- Thermistor internally shorted
- Moisture intrusion affecting the sensor or its wiring
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
A resistance test on the thermistor, checking for an abnormally low reading instead of an open circuit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming a short versus a genuinely failing compressor takes the right test equipment — guessing wrong means replacing the wrong part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
