What E6 Means
E6 is the cold-side counterpart to E5 — the thermistor read more than 10°F below its target for over 12 hours, an over-cooling condition.
Common Causes of E6
- Control setting adjusted colder than intended
- Sensor positioned in a direct cold-air path
- Control board problem
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the temperature setting wasn't accidentally set too cold for the stored wine type, and confirm nothing is blocking airflow right at the sensor.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Over-cooling wine storage risks cork or seal stress from temperature extremes, so it's worth confirming the actual cause rather than just nudging the setting warmer and hoping.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
