What E2 Means
E2 on U-Line's 1000 Series control means the primary cabinet thermistor is shorted — the opposite electrical problem from E1's open circuit, but the same practical result: the control board can't trust the temperature reading.
Common Causes of E2
- Thermistor probe internally shorted from age or moisture intrusion
- Damaged wire insulation letting two conductors touch
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
This is a resistance test with a meter, the same as E1 but looking for an abnormally low or zero reading instead of an open circuit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A shorted sensor and a genuinely failed compressor can both cause erratic cooling, and testing the wrong one first wastes a visit.
- Moisture intrusion that shorted the original sensor can also affect nearby wiring, worth checking during the same repair rather than after a second failure.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
