What E2 Means
E2 means a second thermistor on the unit has gone open-circuit — these machines monitor more than one location (such as the evaporator and the storage area) independently.
Common Causes of E2
- Thermistor 2 probe failed open
- Wiring problem on that sensor's circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Same resistance-test approach as E1, on the sensor E2 corresponds to.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Correctly identifying which of several thermistors E2 refers to before disassembly avoids working on a sensor that was actually fine.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
