What E12 Means
E12 is the opposite of E11 — the water level in the tray or reservoir has read lower than expected, which can interrupt ice production.
Common Causes of E12
- Water supply line shutoff valve closed or partially closed
- Kinked or restricted supply line
- Clogged inlet filter (on models equipped with one)
- Level sensor problem
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the water supply line for a closed shutoff valve or restricted flow before assuming a sensor problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A sensor swap that skips checking the supply line first often just brings the same code back once the machine drains again.
- Repeated low-water shutdowns without a supply issue found can point to an internal fill-valve or plumbing problem that's easy to misdiagnose from the outside.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
