What CLR Means
CLR flashes at exactly one point in U-Line's service menu: item 15, Clear Error Log, which sits right after View Error Log. U-Line's clear-ice service documentation spells out the action — hold the key for five seconds while CLR is flashing — and the stored problem history goes. That history is worth more on an ice machine than on almost anything else U-Line builds.
Common Causes of CLR
- A prior service visit clearing the log after a repair, which is its intended purpose
- Someone exploring the menu and holding the key at the CLR step
- A control board replaced or restored to defaults, leaving nothing stored
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing needs repairing here. What does matter is telling your technician if anyone has already been through the service menu, because water-related problems on these machines are slow to build and only make sense as a sequence.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Water level, drain and float-switch problems on U-Line ice machines take an hour or more of failed fill attempts to register at all, so their entries are often the only proof they happened.
- An intermittent problem that has been cleared from the log usually costs a second visit, since it will not reproduce on demand.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
