What dr Means
Most U-Line error information is filed silently into an error log. dr is one of the few messages the control puts straight onto the main display, and U-Line's own owner-facing troubleshooting table gives it one instruction: check that the door is sealing correctly.
Common Causes of dr
- Gasket compressed flat along the hinge side after years of service
- Door slightly out of square, common once a heavy custom panel has been hanging on it
- Something on an interior door shelf standing proud and holding the door open a fraction
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close a banknote in the door and pull it out at eight or ten points right around the perimeter. Where it slides free without any drag, the gasket has stopped gripping — that mapped pattern tells a technician far more than a photo of the door does.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Gaskets for U-Line undercounter cabinets are model-specific profiles, and one that is close but not correct will seat convincingly while still leaking air along its length.
- Peeling an old gasket out of its retaining channel without knowing how that channel is built is a common way to distort the door liner, which turns a seal job into a door replacement.
- On a built-in installation the hinge and the cabinetry panel have to be brought back into agreement together — treating the seal alone usually means the same dr message returns.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
