What E6 Means
E6 is the cold-side counterpart to E5 — it means the cabinet thermistor read more than 10°F below its target for over 12 hours straight, an over-cooling condition.
Common Causes of E6
- Control setting adjusted colder than intended
- Thermistor sitting directly in a cold air stream, reading colder than the rest of the cabinet
- Control board problem holding the compressor on longer than it should
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the temperature control setting hasn't been accidentally set too cold, and confirm nothing near the sensor is blocking airflow in a way that could give a falsely cold reading right at the sensor.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Distinguishing a simple setting issue from an actual control-board problem means confirming the setpoint first, in person, before assuming a part has failed.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
